An Asylum SubmissionFor those that question the need to lock up the mentally disturbed and maintian their care...We have agreed with Dr. Michael Pierce, to allow this entry here. It is deeply disturbing, and but a small exerpt from one of his current maximum security patients. There are those who question the treatment and care of these souls who have lost their humanity, however we feel that this piece represents why the public safety at large is important and why these people must be locked away from society in order to maintain the public good.
The Hellington Literary SocietyMurder, a hunter’s guide. In order to plan an effective murder, several things must be considered prior to the event. Selections of victim, time, location, and mode are all critical to successful application. In the following article I will try and lead you through what a successful murder entails.
Enjoyment of the event can be greatly enhanced by proper selection of the victim. All prey shares a few of the same basic traits: vulnerability and a desire to live. These traits can be made to serve you, if you know how to take advantage of them. Keep in mind that no one is completely invulnerable, and since you have time to plan out your scenario, and your potential victim is unaware, you can enhance that vulnerability by meeting them on your own terms and conditions. So, in essence, brute strength can be overcome with cunning and surprise. Secondly, a prey’s desire to live can greatly prolong said event, since in most situations, victims are not willing to believe that this is really happening to them. Most victims expect that no matter how bad thing's get, that’s a line that you won’t cross. This is where you have the upper hand, because only you know how the story will end. That is generally why skilled murderers choose partners of the opposing sex. With experience, you can carefully guide your partner through fear, panic, terror, dread, and ultimately, into demise.
Choosing the correct time is critical. A time must be selected when the victim will not be missed, at least for a short while. The best time is usually at night, when the victim should be sleeping or secondly, when the victim is travelling from one place to another. Extra time must always be allowed in case something unexpected happens, or you just get caught up in the festive event. Time is the one thing you are always working against. Because at some point you are going to need to clean up, dispose of something, and leave.
Locations must be selected according to their availability, accessibility, and security. Since you are in the planning stages, you must carefully consider where you wish this to take place. Certain locations lend themselves to easier collection of condemning evidence. These types of locations are generally best avoided; unless you wish to add intensity to your situation by the potentiality of getting caught by said evidence. Accessibility is crucial. Since things often turn out wrong, you need to consider what might be involved in getting your victim to its final location. A victim that knows it’s going to die isn’t always compliant. So you may need to give incentive. Generally a club is an excellent option. It makes minimal noise, is easy to handle, and it is less likely to leave a blood trail. The security of your location must also be considered, because it can greatly enhance the amount of time that you can spend with your prey. It can also allow you to be quite creative with your victim’s mode of death, slow torture, acid bath, etc.
Mode is the way that the murder takes place. How are you going to do it? Do you favor axes, razors, guns, or something more esoteric? Also you must carefully consider how much noise will be made, how much time you will need, and potentially how much evidence will be left by your method. Less involved methods leave less evidence behind, but minimize potential interaction between hunter and prey. Mode should be selected upon the basis of time constraints, location, evidence concerns, and desired interaction. The mode should be something that you are familiar with using. Don’t plan on using and hydraulic press if you don’t know how to operate it. Now is not the time to learn how to use your weapon, now is the time to perfect the use of your weapon.
Some knowledge of human anatomy is always beneficial, as a head wound is not always fatal.
Finally, always check your prey, to make sure it’s dead. The dead tells no tales.
