Sanity & EssenceThis information will discuss how to maintain and properly condition one's Sanity and how to use Essence.
Sanity is actually two scores in one.Your maximum sanity value starts at 95.
Your current sanity is represented as such 95 / 95 maximum / current.Maximum Sanity and your current sanity score can and will vary. Your current sanity may never exceed your maximum.
Costs: 10 Essence Points to raise your current sanity up by one point to your maximum.
100 Essence Points to raise your sanity maximum up by 1 point.
Examples:
If your sanity has gone from 95 to 88, and you wanted to raise it back to maximum, you would spend 10 Essence per point in order to do so.If your permanent max sanity was lowered to 93, and you wanted to return to 94 in an attempt to push it back higher with more essence later, you would spend 100.
If you were to drop from 95/95 to 90 on your maximum sanity, your current sanity would also drop to 90. If you wanted to raise your maximum back to 95, it would require 500 Essence to do so and then another 50 to bring your current sanity back up to your 'new" maximum.
Sanity Burn:
Sanity can be burned for power. One must find someone who knows the skill in order to be shown how to unlock the ability. If you wish to purchase the ability to use Sanity Burn - It requires an expenditure of 10 Essence to learn. Burning Sanity produces essence as per the buy back cost. Burning a point of maximum sanity produces 100 Essence.
Burning a point of current sanity produces 10 Essence.One doesn't simply know how to do this...It is another Skill which must be learned...
Sanity Burn costs: 200 Essence and 1 permanent unrecoverable point of sanity - If you are 95/95 you will forever be 94/94...
Attributes:Essence cost to raise attributes is based upon your current attribute score x100 essence.
Example:
To take any attribute from 2 to three would cost 3 x100 Essence = 300 Essence. To take an attribute from 3 to 4 would require 4 x100 Essence = 400 Essence. The value in essence is equal to the next stat point level x 100
Wild Talents:600 Essence will purchase the ability to gain another wild talent.
Affinity RealmsMajor areas cost 200 essence to buy into.
Minor Areas cost 100 Essence to buy Into.
Major areas can be improved. Minor areas that are bought can not be improved.
Improving a realm (major only) is allowed by spending 100 essence in order to improve one's Control or Mask. Each +1 of control or mask is only for spell casting within the realm and does not actually raise the attribute, but it is an important way to improve ones ability to master and mask their usage of their realm affinity areas.

Essence PoolAny "normal" person possesses a life essence rating of 100.
Having crossed the veil, your pool varies from that of any "normal" person.
The pool is determined by your the total sum of your base character attributes.
Most standard characters will start with a pool of 39 points unless advantages are used to raise initial point totals.Pool points are determined as follows:
Values under 30 will not be shown as these lower areas are reserved for NPC's.
30 to 39 Attribute Points - Essence Pool Maximum = 300
40 to 49 Attribute Points - Essence Pool Maximum = 400
50 to 59 Attribute Points - Essence Pool Maximum = 500
60 to 69 Attribute Points - Essence Pool Maximum = 600
There are 13 base Attributes, each with a normal human maximum of 5 - this being the case - 65 points is the total maximum potential for any human, though 69 is listed above on the scale for essence pool maximum.
The scale above does not reflect higher values though they do exist.It is possible to push beyond human limits (with permission/approval), however this is not a common happening. One thing to keep in mind heavily is that just because one has essence to spend does not mean that the capability is there to spend it. You have this raw power at your hands but no kowledge of how to use it to learn something new or to add ability through attribute increases. There must be a viable way for you to expand and an explainable one. Time is one way these things are learned, but just because time passes does not mean one has acquired the ability to understand how to do anything with the power. You must pursue goals in how you seek to expand your abilities. One can not simply snap their fingers and spend X amount of essence in many cases. There must be an explanation for why and how you have learned something new.
